The first week done

Damon made it through his first week of school with great success. He hasn't cried since the first day. Wednesday Damon got a special treat which was to have not only his grandma pick him up at school but his great-grandma did too. GGmaw went in to Damon's classroom and he lit up with joy. He ran over to her and gave her a big hug, grabbed her hand and showed her to his locker. Then Gmaw popped her head in and he got excited again. He told them that they learned about strangers in school today and he said: "You can not open the door because it could be a stranger and he might napkin you." It took them a while to figure out what Damon was trying to say and then finally GGmaw figured it out. The strangers would kidnap you! Too funny.

Towards the end of the day when their lessons are over an afternoon teacher comes in and relieves the school teacher. The afternoon teacher oversees the kids before the parents come to pick them up. Most times the kids will all go into the gym and play and that's where the parents pick them up. Thursday when I went into the gym to get Damon his afternoon teacher, who I met for the first time that day, came over to me and told me that Damon was one of her best students; that he is so polite, sweet and so cute. She said he is such a good listener and uses his manners. She assured me she doesn't say that to everyone but you know what I believe her because Damon is really good. When he is not around his grandma he does really well because he gets in trouble if I get any kind of bad report.

Damon is no longer allowed to watch t.v. during the weekdays so on Friday when I picked him up from school our conversation went like this:

Damon: "Mommy!" (as I bend down and open my arms for a hug) "What is today?" (as he puts his hands on my shoulders...no hug.)

Mommy: "Uh, today is Friday."

Damon: "Does this mean I can watch a little cartoons before bed tonight?"

Mommy: "Yes that is correct."

Damon: "That is so awesome Mommy, Thanks!"

Too cute!
