Are you smarter than a pre-schooler?

I'm not proud to say that I am just not as smart (book smart) as I would like to be. I just did not apply myself in school the way I should have and I am paying for it now...yes mom...you were right. Agh!!!

Damon on the other hand is doing wonderfully in school. He continues to amaze me with everything he is learning in class and we work hard on different things at home as well. Every morning I walk Damon into his class room and I usually hang around for a little bit so that he can show me different things that they are learning. The other week was about the solar system and he just started blurting out: Jupiter, Earth, Moon, Mars, Saturn etc. I was so shocked and surprised because I honestly had to think if what he was saying was correct and it was.

Last week Damon surprised me with telling me what the 5 senses are: hearing, seeing, smelling, tasting, and touching. My goodness I don't think I learned that until I was in middle school.

Tonight Damon said:

Damon: Mommy, we are learning about transportation.
Me: Wow Damon that is a big word! What is transportation?
Damon: Cars, boats, buses, airplanes, you know things like that.
Me: That is wonderful Damon. You are so smart.
Damon: Yeah, I am.

No modesty from this kid but hey, I love that he is confident. That was something I had always lacked when it came to school work. I refuse for Damon to be like me in that area.
